SpaceX Secures Over $255 Million In Funding To Deploy Telescope To Study Dark Energy

Elon Musk's SpaceX has secured a deal for roughly $255 million to launch Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope mission, which will study the impacts of dark energy, dark matter, and exoplanet exploration. In 2026, NGRT will be launched at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida atop SpaceX's Falcon Heavy rocket. The telescope is named after Nancy Grace Roman, Nasa's first chief astronomer, who cleared the path for larger-scale space telescopes. … read-more

Oldest Hubble Telescope Revives Its Service

Hubble Space Telescope which is regarded as one of the oldest working telescopes revived its service again on July 16. Following a computer glitch, the telescope crashed for a month. NASA realised that the power control unit (PCU) which comes under Science Instrument Command and Data Handling (SIC&DH) unit was the main source of the problem. “Hubble is back!” said Tom Brown, head of the Hubble mission office.

Mini Truck-Sized Asteroid '2021 GW4' Close Past Earth On April 12

A small truck-sized asteroid named '2021 GW4' close past the Earth on April 12. Travelling at a speed of 30,104 Km/h, the space rock passed from a distance of 26,200 Km from Earth. Besides, being at an altitude of 35,786 Km, the rock was within the ring of the artificial satellites orbit. The asteroid was discovered on April 8 using the Arizona’s Mt Lemmon-based 'Catalina Sky Survey'.
