In Uttarakhand, heavy rainfall resulted in disaster, as a part of the famous Tapkeshwar Mahadev temple in Dehradun has collapsed on August 21. Devotees, who came to the temple to offer prayers on the occasion of "Somvar of Sawan" faced problems as the way leading to the temple's entrance was partially blocked due to the falling of trees. Heavy rainfall in the region has been a trouble for residence.

In a bizzare incident, a thief, who had stolen Lord Krishna’s ornaments from the Gopinath Temple in Odisha’s Gopinathpur, returned them. As per sources, the thief returned the stolen ornaments after nine years with a note saying he had been getting nightmares ever since the theft. Furthermore, the thief not only returned stolen cap, earrings, bracelet and a flute of Krishna and Radha, but paid a fine of Rs 300.

Preparation to celebrate Deepotsav, on the occasion of Deepawali is in full swing in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. Celebrated on October 23, the Ayodhya Temple trust is aiming to light 12 lakh lamps, on the occasion sixth Deepotsav in Ram Ki Paidi Ghats. The Uttar Pradesh Government is targeting to make a Guinness World Record, and lit diyas, bringing earthen ports from Lucknow, Gonda and Ayodhya.
In Bihar, a temple was desecrated in the Kishanganj district, confirmed police on July 22. As per information by devotees, who found an idol of the presiding deity at the Kali temple in Lahra chowk area vandalised. The incident created a ruckus, as the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Bajrang Dal staged a demonstration by burning tyres on the road. The police suspected one and arrested them for interrogation, from Kishanganj.

PM Narendra Modi, who is on a visit to Deogarh, offered prayers at Baba Baidyanath temple, also one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in the country. On the grounds of a Hanuman temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, a man's body was discovered in a pool of blood on July 3. Pankaj Shukla, the 30-year-old victim, had gone to the temple to sleep post-dinner. In a moment of fury, the accused, Pankaj's cousin Gullu Mishra, murdered the man with a sharp-edged object. Police have retrieved the axe used in the murder and apprehended the accused.

During the annual Santhana Mariamman temple festival in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, a fire broke out on June 8. Temporary structures, stores, and automobiles were destroyed by the fire. The devotees were able to get away from the fire. The fire was caused by the exploding of crackers, as per the fire department officials. The fire was eventually contained. There were no fatalities recorded.
In Uttarakhand's Kedarnath, four more Pilgrims lost their lives after falling ill, on May 25. Meanwhile, three others have been airlifted to Rishikesh's AIIMS via air ambulance. The deceased have been identified as Rishi Bhadauriya (65), Shambu Dayal Yadav (66), Kamalnath Bhatt (60) and Changdev Janardan Shinde. Reportedly, since May 6, over 38 Pilgrims have died on their way, due to cardiac arrest and other health problems.
