England Test Captain Joe Root Steps Down From Post
After returning from the Caribbean tour, England Men's Cricket Test Captain Joe Root said, "I have decided to step down as England Men’s Test captain". Calling it a challenging decision, Root said the announcement was made after a detailed discussion with family and close ones. He further added that he would continue to represent Three Lions and extend his support to the next elected captain of the team.

Virat Kohli Rejects BCCI's Offer To Lead 100th Test Match In Bengaluru
After resigning as the Test Captaincy, on January 17, Virat Kohli turned down the offer of the BCCI to lead the 100th Test series, in Bengaluru. "One match makes no difference, that's not how I am," said Kohli, reported by Hindustan Times. On January 15, Virat Kohli announced to step down from Test Captaincy. Meanwhile, the BCCI is likely to announce new Test Captaincy, either KL Rahul or Rohit Sharma.
