The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) along with the Thane district athletics association will conduct a 10-km marathon competition and annual cyclothon on August 14, the eve of the 75th Independence Day celebration. The celebration has been launched under the "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav". The TMC chief Dr. Vipin Sharma appealed to citizens to participate in this marathon in large numbers, which will begin from the TMC Headquarters.

Founder of the "₹1 Clinic" in Thane, Dr. Rahul Ghule was discharged from the hospital after being admitted for a suicidal attempt by consuming 30 sleeping pills. The doctor had tweeted that TMC had not paid his bills, and political leaders were further pressuring him to invest in the "Aapla Davakhana" project. A TMC spokesperson said that necessary actions will be taken after probing into the matter.

Mumbai’s Thane Municipal Corporation has warned the civic body officials not to switch off their phones during emergencies citing that it obstructs the rescue operations. Street children in Thane, are getting education from the "Signal School" started by Samarth Bharat Vyaspith (SBV), a Pune-based NGO. The school is now accredited by the Thane Municipal Corporation. Apart from mainstream education, Signal Shala conducts co-curricular activities like dance, games, and sports. Their primary motto is to reach out to the children living off on traffic signals in Thane.
