TMC To Hold "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" Marathon On August 14

The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) along with the Thane district athletics association will conduct a 10-km marathon competition and annual cyclothon on August 14, the eve of the 75th Independence Day celebration. The celebration has been launched under the "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav". The TMC chief Dr. Vipin Sharma appealed to citizens to participate in this marathon in large numbers, which will begin from the TMC Headquarters.

Dr Rahul Ghule Founder Of '₹1 Clinic' Attempts Suicide

Founder of the "₹1 Clinic" in Thane, Dr. Rahul Ghule was discharged from the hospital after being admitted for a suicidal attempt by consuming 30 sleeping pills. The doctor had tweeted that TMC had not paid his bills, and political leaders were further pressuring him to invest in the "Aapla Davakhana" project. A TMC spokesperson said that necessary actions will be taken after probing into the matter.

Maharashtra: 7 Killed In Thane Residential Building Collapse

In a heart-wrenching incident, at least seven people were crushed to death after a residential building collapsed in the Thane district of Maharashtra on May 28. The incident occurred at night and it is estimated that nearly four to five people are still trapped in the debris. Reportedly, fire brigade and National Disaster Response Force personnel have been deployed at the site for the rescue operation.

Street children in Thane, are getting education from the "Signal School" started by Samarth Bharat Vyaspith (SBV), a Pune-based NGO. The school is now accredited by the Thane Municipal Corporation.
