Thane Shocker! Lift Plunges From 40-Storey Building, 7 Died & 2 Injured

In a shocking incident, reported in Thane, seven workers lost their lives when an elevator plunged from the 40-storey Runwal Eirene building in the Balkum area. Two other workers sustained serious injuries and were rushed to a private hospital. Upon receiving information about the incident, local police and fire brigade personnel rushed to the scene, and the police are currently investigating the matter.

MLA Geeta Jains Slaps Civic Engineer In Public, Video Goes Viral

in a viral video, a woman legislator from the Thane district of Maharashtra was seen slapping a junior civic engineer in public view. Mira Bhayandar MLA Geeta Jain abused two engineers of the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) over razing a house which resulted in its occupants, including children, being forced to stay on the road ahead of monsoon. The MLA said she didn't regret it and is ready for the consequences.

Fire Breaks Out At Business Park In Thane

In Thane, a major fire broke out at Orion Business Park adjacent to Cine Wonder Mall.  The incident occurred at around 8:30 pm, on April 18. The efforts by Balkum Fire Station firemen are still underway to douse out the fire. Moreover, the authority confirmed that no casualties have been reported from the spot. Avinash Sawant, regional disaster management cell (RDMC) chief is supervising the operation.

Several Parts Of Mumbai Waterlogged Following Heavy Downpour: Maharashtra

Following heavy rainfall, several parts of the city of Mumbai have been waterlogged, as of September 13. The situation was at its very worst in Mumbai’s Simon area, with water levels extremely high, disturbing life. Meanwhile, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an “yellow alert” to Mumbai, and adjourning places like Pune, Thane, Raigad and Phalgar. Since June 1 to August 12, over 120 persons have lost their lives.

Dacoits Break Into Priest’s House In Thane With Swords, Loot Valuables Worth Rs 10.4 Lakh

In Thane’s Ulhasnagar, a group of dacoits looted a house, and stole valuables worth Rs 10.4 lakh, informed police on August 31. The victim was a priest Swami Dana Ram Sahib Durbar, a religious denomination. Reportedly, the gang entered the house by breaking open the main door at around 5 am on August 30. According to the complaint, the accused a carried swords, and also attacked the priest’s son.

Maharashtra Teacher Charged For Dismissing Class 10 Student

A private school teacher charged for caning a Class 10 pupil and breaking his hand in Maharashtra's Thane. Police launched a case on August 27 under section 325 (voluntarily causing severe harm) of IPC, based on a complaint filed by the wounded student's parents. The 15-year-old youngster had a disagreement with a classmate, who complained to the instructor. The accused then caned the victim, causing his wrist to swell.

Slab Of 5th Floor Of Building Collapses In Maharashtra’s Thane; 1 Labourer Dead, 1 Injured

In Maharashtra’s Thane, the slab of the fifth floor of the Komal Park building collapsed, informed investigating officer Laxmikant Patil, on August 26. The incident left one labourer dead, and another injured. Following the incident, helpers rushed and evacuated everyone from the building. Meanwhile, the building has been sealed by Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation, he stated. Further details on the matter is awaited.

Police Arrests Trio Alleged Of Stealing Bikes, Recovers 39 Bikes: Thane

The Mumbra police arrested three people for allegedly stealing 39 bikes from Mumbra, Kalwa and Shil-Daighar areas, on August 14. The arrested were identified as Mohammad Amir Mohammad Siddiqui (47), Jawad Anwar Khan (23), and one Faizan Rizwan Shaikh ( 22), all Mumbra residents. Notably, in the past few days, Mumbai were witnessing bike theft threats, and to curb the stealing, police formed teams and nabbed the accused.

Narcotics Cell Arrests 2 People In Thane, Seizes 266 Kg Ganja

The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Mumbai crime branch seized 266 kg ganja hidden in two cars, confirmed police on August 10.  As per sources, two people identified as Ashwin Kumar Ashok Sharma (32) and Raju Ramesh Lohar (24), both residents of Thane, were carrying ganja worth Rs 80 lakh. They were arrested from Airoli, hane, following which a case was registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
