Samrat Prithviraj, a film starring Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chhillar, has generated only Rs 55 crores at the box office, proving to be a commercial flop. As per media sources, the shows were canceled owing to zero occupancies. The film's budget was reportedly about Rs 200 crore, however, it failed to make even Rs 100 crore. On June 3, the film was released globally in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. 

The makers of actor Ishaan Khatter-starrer ''Pippa'' on December 16 announced that the film will release next year in theatres on December 9. It's based on the life of Brigadier Balaram Singh who fought on the eastern front during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971. The film, directed by Raja Krishna Menon and produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur, also stars Mrunal Thakur, Priyanshu Painyuli, Soni Razdan and others.

Actor Mahesh Babu on November 3 announced  ''Sarkaru Vaari Paata'' will now release on April 1, 2022, instead of January 13. The actor took to Twitter to announce the development and also shared a new poster of the film with a caption. The caption read, ''April 1st 2022!! #HappyDiwali.'' The movie directed by Parasuram Petla also stars Keerthy Suresh, Samuthirankani, Vennela Kishore, and Subbaraju in the lead roles. 

Following the multiple delays due to COVID-19, it is now been confirmed that ''KGF Chapter 2'' will now be released on April 14, 2022, in theatres. The release date was confirmed by the protagonist Yash (Rocky) as he wrote on Twitter, ''We will be out in theaters on April 14th, 2022.'' The film also stars Sanjay Dutt as the antagonist Adheera, Raveena Tandon, and Srinidhi Shetty in the lead roles.
