NTPC Records 21.7% Increase In Power Generation In April-June 22

NTPC group companies registered an increase of 21.7% from 85.8 BU generated in the corresponding quarter last year to 104 BU, in QFY3. On July 8, the company revealed that in June’22, generation was 34.8 BU, higher by 29.3% compared to 26.9 BU in June’21 indicating improved performance along with increased power supply demand. Notably, the NTPC thermal plant in Odisha is the highest generating thermal power plant.

NTPC To Commission India's Largest Floating Solar Power Plant In May

The National Thermal Power Corporation is all set to commission India's largest floating solar power plant at Ramagundam in May 2021. The Rs 423-crore floating project of 100 MW capacity will be spread over 450 acres on the water surface of Sri Ram Sagar Project reservoir. Punjab's Talwandi Coal Power Plants Forced to Shut Down As Coal-crisis Increases

Facing coal-crunch, Punjab's Talwandi Sabo Power Plant has been forced to shut down. The Nabha Power Limited, Rajpura is also facing coal shortage as farmers continue sitting on rail-track gates of both the plants. CERC Allows Power Plants to Recover FGD Cost Over Plants' Life

Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) allowed power producers to recover additional cost of Flue Gas Desulphurisation (FGD) device from consumers for 25 years. Reportedly, power plants will be allowed to recover their costs during the tenure of power purchase agreements. Earlier, Environment ministry notified thermal power plants to retrofit their units with FGD, to cut SO2 and NO2 emissions, by December 2022.
