Andhra Pradesh Reports 2 More Cases Of Omicron: COVID Update

The state of Andhra Pradesh has reported two Omicron cases, taking the total tally to four, as of December 24. The Director of Public Health Dr. Hymavati said that one Omicron patient is a 41-year-old  returnee from Kuwait and the other is a 31-year-old returnee from UAE. "So far 53 international travelers and 9 contacts were found COVID positive and all the samples were sent for Genome Sequencing," she added.

Covid-19: Third Wave To Hit In September, May Peak In October In India

National Insitute of Disaster Management (NIDM) under the Home Ministry in its new report to PMO warned against the third wave of COVID-19 saying it would reach its peak around October. It also recommends the government ramp up paediatric facilities as the virus may infect children in large numbers. However, AIIMS requested everyone to constantly follow COVID-19 protocols to avoid any possible outbreak of the virus.

Nepal PM Warns Citizens Against Third Wave Of Covid-19

Owing to the menace of the surge in the Covid-19 pandemic in Nepal, PM Sher Bahadur warned people ''not to go out unnecessarily'' and follow the safety protocols on August 7. The PM further said in a video, ''There seem to be signs that we're now on the verge of being hit by the third wave of the pandemic.'' Nepal also extended the lockdown till August 11 in Kathmandu Valley.

Scientists Predict Third Wave To Hit In Late-Aug

India will likely witness the Covid-19 third wave by the end of August as per the predictions by Samiran Panda, Senior ICMR Scientist. "So, there is a distinct possibility of the third wave because some states still have vulnerable populations," Panda said. As the possibility of the third wave seems inevitable, India will have to anticipate the signs in the next few days.

Can Prevent Third Wave If Precautions Are Met: Dr Randeep Guleria

AIIMS Director Dr. Randeep Guleria said that the third wave of COVID-19 may not even occur if the norms & precautions are actively met. Also if India can vaccinate a significant number of people relatively soon, the chances of the third wave can be nullified, Guleria added. However, areas with the highest number of cases need to be aggressively addressed to combat spread furthermore.

Bengaluru Paediatricians have reported an increase in COVID-19 infections among the children during the second wave in the city. 3rd COVID Wave Will Affect Children, Warns India's Scientific Advisor

Union government’s Principal Scientific Advisor, K Vijay Raghavan on May 5 said that third wave of COVID-19 is inevitable. Raghavan said since the time is unclear when it will arrive, he said to be prepared for menace. Meanwhile, the experts have opined that while the first wave majorly attacked elderly and second wave is affecting youths, the third wave will probably affect the children.

COVID-19: K'taka Likely To Witness 3rd Wave in October, Says TAC

Karnataka’s Technical Advisory Committee has said that once the COVID’s second wave flattens in July, the third wave will hit the state in October. The most affected in the third wave will be children below 18 years as they wouldn't be inoculated, added TAC. Suggesting social distancing and face mask as mandatory, the TAC said senior citizens will be safe from the third wave as they will be vaccinated by then.
