ED Raids Karuvannur Co-operative Bank In Rs 104 Bank Fraud Case: Kerala
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids at Karuvannur Co-operative Bank in Kerala's, on August 10. ED also conducted raids at the residences in Thrissur, belonging to four accused involved in the case. Reportedly, about Rs 104 crore fraud has been reported in the Karuvannur Co-operative Bank. Further details on the matter is awaited, and ED probe is underway.

Kerala Rains: 3 Pregnant Women Stranded In Forest Rescued
Amid heavy downpour in the southern state of Kerala, officials have rescued three pregnant women who were stranded in a forest. Reportedly, the women got stranded after heavy rains started to lash the region. One woman gave birth to her baby in the forest, as she refused to go to the hospital. The other two women are six to seven months pregnant.

Malayalam Actor Sreejith Ravi Granted Bail By Kerala HC In POCSO Case
Malayalam actor Sreejith Ravi who was accused in a POCSO case, has been granted bail by Kerala Hight Court, on July 15. Reportedly, Ravi was accused for his alleged act of indecent conducts towards two minor girls. The bail plea was filed in the Kerala HC after bail was denied to him in the Thrissur district court. Furthermore, his counsel has claimed that he's undergoing treatment for personality disorder.

Kerala Govt Confirms Anthrax Outbreak; Officials On High Alert
Kerala is on high alert after many wild boars died due to Anthrax, a rare but serious bacterial illness. After testing the carcasses of boars in the Athirapilly forest range in Kerala's Thrissur, the disease was detected. Reportedly, humans can contract the disease upon coming in contact with the contaminated waste of the animals. "Government has taken Enough' steps to prevent the spread," said health minister Veena George.

Thrissur-Based Biotechnology Startup Zaara Biotech Receives Investment From US Company
Zaara Biotech, a Thrissur-based biotechnology startup, received an unknown amount of funding from Transcend International in order to establish an Algal seaweed technology center in US. The money will be used to set up a food and beverage production plant under the brand name "B-lite," as part of the Kerala Startup Mission. The company also made India's first algal seaweed cookies, including Spirulina cookies, which are high in protein.

Amazon Sends Original Passport With Order Of Passport Cover: Kerala
In a bizarre incident, Mithun Babu from Kerala's Wayanad received an original passport with his order of a 'passport cover' by Amazon. The incident happened on November 1. Babu contacted the customer care of Amazon but didn't get the solution. Eventually, he ''surrendered the passport'' to the police. Reportedly, the company sent the passport of its last customer who had mistakenly returned it with his order from Thrissur.
