Assam’s Kaziranga National Park & Tiger Reserve Now Open For Tourists

The Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve situated in Assam, was opened for tourists on October 2. Reportedly, the park is partially open for keep safari in two ranges- Kaziranga Range, Kohora and Western Range in Bagori. The park was officially reopened for tourists this season (2022-23), by Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and Sadhguru on September 23. Furthermore, CM Sarma also unveiled three rhino statues at Kaziranga’s Mihimukh.

World Celebrates International Tiger Day; India Now Has 3,000 Wild Cats

To raise awareness about the big wild cats, Global Tiger Day is celebrated on July 29 every year. Reportedly, the "total population of tigers around the world is known to be at 3,900". India alone has around 3,000 wild tigers. However, due to illegal wildlife trade and poaching the ratio of tigers dropped 95% in the last 150 years but it is on the rise since 2018.

Madhya Pradesh Reports Four Dead Tigers, Officials Claims Natural Death

Four Tigers have been reported dead in different parts of Madhya Pradesh in the last 10 ten days. While the latest death was recorded on May 15 at the Panna Tiger Reserve of the state, earlier the dead bodies were found in Bandhavgarh, Balaghat and Kanha Tiger Reserve. However, the forest official has stated that the death in Panna Reserve was natural, no illegal activity has been suspected.

Rajasthan: Tiger Cub Found Dead At Ranthambore National Park

A tiger cub has been found dead at Rajasthan's Ranthambore National Park on April 1. Reportedly, the five-month-old cub was last seen moving on March 26 with his mother T-60. Spotting canine marks on its neck, the officials predicted that the cub died likely due to a fight with another tiger. Moreover, after recovering the carcass in a disfigured condition, the cub was disposed of after postmortem.

6 Tigers Go Missing From Ranthambore Reserve In Rajasthan

In a wildlife "shocking" incident, the Rajasthan Forest Department on March 19 stated six tigers in the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve have gone missing. The officials informed that the tigers, including two cubs, were last seen during March-April 2020. Tamil Nadu Plans To Create Its 5th, India's 51st Tiger Reserve

The Tamil Nadu government on February 8 announced to create its fifth and India's 51st tiger reserve. Named as 'Srivilliputhur Megamalai Tiger Reserve', the 1,00,000-hectare reserve will include forests of Megamalai Wildlife Sanctuary and Srivilliputhur grizzled squirrel wildlife sanctuary.
