CCTV To Be Installed As Per Delhi Court Order At Tihar Jail's Senior Police Offices

The Director General of Tihar Jail has been ordered by the Delhi Court to install CCTV cameras within the offices of the jail's Superintendent and Deputy Superintendent. The court recently issued an order, stating, "It will further reflect transparency in the functioning of these offices." This was in response to an incident on March 27 where an inmate was reportedly mistreated within the chamber of the Deputy Superintendent in Jail.

SC Asks Conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar To Come Clean On Rs 12.5 Cr Payment Made To Jail Officials

Hearing conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar's plea for transfer to any jail outside Delhi, the Supreme Court asked him to come clean on the payments he made to the jail officials. Reportedly, conman Sukesh paid around Rs 12.5 crore to the officials at Tihar and Rohini jails, to ensure his safety and protection. According to Sukesh's counsel, the payments were made by his associates outside the jail.

Murder Accused Sushil Kumar Is Tihar Jail's New Fitness Trainer

Wrestler Sushil Kumar, who is currently serving as a prisoner in Delhi's Tihar jail is now a fitness coach in the jail. He has been tasked to train inmates there. Around six to seven prisoners are being trained by Sushil Kumar in the jail compound, stated Tihar Jail's Director-General. Notably, Kumar has been in jail since May 23, 2021, in connection with a murder case.

Tihar Jail Prisoner Swallows 7 Cm Long Mobile, Doctors Perform Endoscopy

In a shocking incident, a prisoner of Tihar Jail, Delhi swallowed a 7 cm long and 3 cm wide mobile. However, the dangerous stunt landed him into severe stomach pain, following which a team of doctors at GB Pant Hospital, performed endoscopy and took out the phone from the prisoner's mouth. Dr. Siddharth of GB Pant Hospital said, this is not the first time such cases came.

5 Prisoners Die Within 8 Days At Tihar Jail; Magistrate Inquiry Underway

About five prisoners at Tihar Jail in the national capital, have died in the past eight days. As per jail authorities, Vikram aka Vicky, was one of the prisoners who died in Tihar Jail on December 24, due to health issues. Under Section 176 of CrPC, action has been initiated and Metropolitan Magistrate inquiry has been conducted in each case. All the death has been termed as natural.

Former Haryana CM Freed From Tihar Jail Over Delhi Govt's Order

Former Haryana CM Om Prakash Chautala, who served a 10-year jail term under a teacher conscription scam case, was released from the Tihar Jail on July 2. However, Chautala was already on emergency parole. The 86-year-old is one among the prisoners who were released under the Delhi government's order, which granted a six-month special rescinding to those who served nine and a half years of their 10-year sentence.
