Uttarakhand CM Tirath Singh Rawat Resigns Over Constitutional Crisis

Uttarakhand CM Tirath Singh Rawat has resigned from his post on the late night of July 2, citing the constitutional crisis in the state. Meanwhile, he said, ''I have submitted my resignation to Governor. Given the constitutional crisis, I felt it was right for me to resign.'' However, Rawat has resigned within four-month after taking over the position from Trivendra Singh Rawat. The state is yet to announce the next CM.

Laying out another controversial statement, Uttarakhand CM Tirath Singh Rawat has now said that Haridwar Kumbh should not be compared with Nizamuddin Markaz congregation. When asked about second COVID-19 wave, Rawat said Kumbh is organized in open spaces while Markaz attendees were unaware of coronavirus. Besides, he also said that those attending Kumbh are "our own people" while the Markaz hosted people even from foreign land.
