Popularly known as the “Lion of Punjab”, Ranjit Singh was the first king of the Sikh Empire. His statue in Pakistan's Lahore Fort was destroyed by Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) workers on August 17. The statue had already been vandalised by TLP members on at least two separate occasions.
