Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee along with party workers and leaders sat on a dharna at the Rajghat here on Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary on Monday demanding the release of funds for West Bengal by the Centre. The Lok Sabha MP, accompanied by hundreds of men and women from the party including MPs, MLAs and ministers who had arrived from West Bengal to take part in the protest.

A fact finding committee of the BJP has came up with a report in the recent poll violence occurred in West Bengal. In the report submitted to the BJP National President JP Nadda, the committee said, "democracy ended in WB." TMC Leader Mukul Roy is missing since last night, April 17. According to sources, Roy boarded an IndiGo flight from Kolkata to Delhi, however, Roy is untraceable. Notably, the family of Mukul Roy said, the last he was seen and traceable was in Kolkata when he was set to fly to Delhi. Furthermore, Mukul Roy and his son had an heated argument on Sunday, following which he flew to Delhi.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee lashed out at the Indian National Congress and its leader Rahul Gandhi. On March 20, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) President said, Rahul Gandhi is working for the TRP of the PM Narendra Modi led BJP. Banerjee said, "If Rahul Gandhi is the face of the Opposition, then nobody will be able to criticize PM Modi." Mamata's comment came after ruckus over Gandhi's UK remark.
