Upset With 3rd Daughter, Man Stuff 8 Day Old's Mouth With Tobacco, Kills New Born
A man killed his eight-day-old daughter by stuffing her mouth with tobacco, confirmed officials in Jalgaon district. The incident was brought to light by an Asha worker on September 12, following which the police arrested the man who has been identified as Gokul Gotiram Jadhav (30). Jadhav had two daughters and on September 2 his wife gave birth to a third daughter at the Vakod Primary Health Centre.

Union Govt To Launch Tobacco Free India Campaign On May 31
The Union Health Ministry is planning to launch a 60-day pan India campaign on the theme 'tobacco-free youth'. Starting on May 31, the campaign will focus on taking steps to prevent the initiation of tobacco use among youngsters and assisting users to quit. According to the Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS), current tobacco use among young adolescents (13–15 years) in 2019 was 8.5% but is high amongst youths in India.

Tobacco Products To Have New Textual Warnings From December 1, 2022
Tobacco products manufactured, imported, or packaged on or after December 1, 2022, will have a new display warning. As per the Union Health Ministry, a new image will have a textual warning, "Tobacco causes a painful death.” The new image will be valid for one year period, following which, the new image will have new warnings, "Tobacco causes younger death". Akshay Kumar Apologises For Vimal Ad
Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has issued an apology for endorsing tobacco. After receiving a huge backlash from his fans for signing a deal with tobacco brand Vimal, he has since expressed regret. The actor took to Instagram to share that the negative response to the ad has deeply affected him. Moreover, he has also stepped back as the ambassador. He also added that he would never endorse tobacco again.

4 Cops Held For Spitting Tobacco In Police Station: Madhya Pradesh

India Ranks 2nd With More Smokers Aged 16 To 64: Report
India has ranked second in the number of smokers aged between 16 and 64 years, according to a report prepared by "The International Commission to Reignite the Fight Against Smoking". Reportedly, around 250,002,133 Indians in the said age group are smokers. The report also stated that India has one the highest number of oral cancer cases, and a very low "quit rate", at about 20 percent.
