Tokyo Olympics: Indian Women's Hockey Team Qualifies For Semifinals

The Rani Rampal-led Indian Women's hockey team has entered the semifinals after defeating World No.2 Australia on August 2. Notably, the Indian team also created history by qualifying for the semifinals as it came after the 1980 Olympic Games when India had finished fourth. India has so far defeated Ireland and South Africa and it is now preparing to take on Argentina on August 4.

Mirabai Chanu Wins First Silver Medal In Weightlifting At Tokyo Olympic

Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu has won the silver medal in the woman's 49-kg category by lifting 202 kg at the 2020 Tokyo Games on July 24. Meanwhile, China's Zhihui Hou and Indonesia's Windy Cantika Aisah secured Gold and Bronze respectively. Chanu has become the second woman medalist after Karnam Malleswari's Bronze in weightlifting. Besides, Chanu won the first medal for India at the game.
