Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on March 22 stated that the Road Transport ministry has suffered a toll collection loss of Rs 815 crore owing to the ongoing farmers' protest. Union Minister Announces To Introduce GPS-Based Toll Collection
Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on march 18 announced in the lok sabha that the government will soon introduce GPS-based toll collection. In-order to avoid toll theft and GST evasion cases, the collection of money will be done through GPS imaging. Transport Min Extends Deadline Of Mandatory FASTag Till Feb 15
The deadline to collect toll charges through FASTag has been extended till February 15 by the Union Transport Ministry. Earlier, the government had set the deadline for January 1. Moreover, to encourage the use of FASTag, dedicated 'FASTag Lanes' have been made at all toll plazas. Besides, vehicles without 'FASTag' will need to pay double the toll fee. Reportedly, about 20-25% people are still paying toll charges in form of cash.
