ITS 2020 Reveals Uttar Pradesh as Top Indian Destination for Tourism

Indian Tourism Industry Estimated to Lose Rs 5 Lakh Crore
Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and Hotelivate, in its report stated, Indian Travel and Tourism Industry is estimated to lose Rs 5 Lakh Crore. The pandemic and the continuous shutdowns were being reasoned for the loss. The report stated, "This is one of the worst crises ever to hit the Indian tourism industry impacting all its geographical segments." March reported the least, 7 per cent occupancies due to the lockdown.

ICC & WTTC Release Guidelines for Tourism Sector Amid Covid-19
The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) on August 28, released guidelines for customer safety in the travel and tourism sector. The guideline aims at rebuilding consumer trust and maintaining workplace safety. ICC Secretary General John W H Denton said, “With over 150 million travel and tourism jobs lost since the outbreak of Covid-19, more needs to be done to address the challenges.”
