Sikkim Cloudburst, Flash Incident: 40 People Died, Over 3,000 Stuck

At least 40 people, including seven Armymen, have died in the Sikkim flash floods and the Army is carrying out extensive rescue operations for thousands stranded in the deluge. Downstream search-and-rescue teams recovered more bodies overnight as the waters cut a swathe through the countryside towards the Bay of Bengal. Around 3,000 people are stranded in Lachen and Lachung. 3,150 people who have gone there on motorcycles are also stuck.

Another Avalanche Hits Nathu La, Rescue Operation Stopped: Sikkim

In less than 24 hours, another avalanche hit Nathu La, due to which an ongoing rescue operation was called off. As per sources, on April 4, an avalanche hit Nathu La's higher altitude, leaving seven people dead. Many tourists were said to have been trapped, following which the Sikkim rescue team started an operation to save those trapped. Furthermore, the weather is said to be disturbing with heavy snowfall.

Flash Flood In Himachal Pradesh Leaves People Stranded, Rescue Operation Underway

In Himachal Pradesh's Lahaul and Spiti districts, the rescue management saved at least 105 people, mostly tourists after a flash flood left them stranded. On July 31, flash floods disturbed the holiday movement in Lahaul and Spiti, leaving many vehicles damaged, and people stranded along National Highway 505. BRO press launched a rescue service and many tourists were taken to Koksar. Furthermore, nine roads in the region were blocked.

Asia's Largest Tulip Garden Reopens For Tourists In J&K

Asia's largest Tulip Garden in Kashmir, having Dal Lake view is now open for tourists, from March 23. Jammu & Kashmir Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta announced the garden to be open for the next six months, and expected to see heavy footfall. Inaugurated by Ghulam Nabi Azad in 2008, the 'Tulip Garden' was formerly known as Siraj Bagh and has over 1.5 million flowers, including 68 varieties of tulips.
