Toyota To Launch Electric Vehicles In India By 2026

Toyota, an automobile company announced to launch of 10 electric vehicles by 2026. In an official statement, the company said after a long argument, the company is all set to plan for 10 new battery electric vehicles, for the Indian market. In addition, they are also planning to establish a new focused unit for specialized next-generation battery EVs. The decision is a response to other competitors like Tesla.

Maruti Suzuki To Borrow EV Technology From Toyota For Electric Cars

Maruti Suzuki will collaborate with Toyota to build six small electric cars, said the Japanese automobile company. The shift in focus was aimed at the ambition of Maruti to build small electric cars for the Indian market. Sources revealed that Suzuki will borrow EV technology from Toyota Motors for building its electric car, which will be launched this decade. Notably, Toyota has a 5% stake in Maruti Suzuki company.

The automobile will be manufactured in Karnataka's Bidadi facility. It will also be available at Nexa showrooms.

Toyota Innova Crysta Records Highest YoY Growth For May: India

The Toyota Innova Crysta, one of the country's most popular MPVs, had a 13-fold increase in YoY sales in May 2022. There were 2,737 purchases in May. However, in the same month the previous year, the total was only 20 units. Other models from the Japanese carmaker such as Toyota Fortuner also saw an upsurge in YoY sales. In India, Toyota presently has seven products on the market.

Toyota Retains World's Largest Car-Maker Title

Toyota has become the world's largest "car-seller" for the second time in a row with an increase of 10.1% in vehicle sales. The Japanese car-maker has reportedly sold 10.5 million vehicles in 2021. Volkswagen sold 8.9 million vehicles in 2021, bagging the second spot. Volkswagen stated that the sales figures were affected due to a chip shortage the company faced owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
