Inflation In India Leads To Skyrocketing Prices Of Onions

The rising cost of onions is raising fears about rising family spending and possible inflation. According to government data dated October 25, the maximum retail price of onions has increased to approximately Rs 70 per kilogram. This upward trend is anticipated to persist until December, when the kharif crop is available for purchase. The prices are soon expected to skyrocket in Indian regions, including Ghaziabad and Noida.

After Tomatoes, Mumbai Citizens Witness Surge In Coriander Price

While most of the green vegetables including tomatoes have seen a correction in prices, the price of coriander increased in the last week. A pair of coriander was available at Rs 30 to Rs 40 is now available at Rs 60. Traders say the drop in supply led to price rise. Due to heavy rainfall in July, around 40 per cent of coriander crops were damaged and prices shot up.

Rupee Gains By 10 Paise, Stands At 82.06 Against US Dollars

The rupee gained 10 paise to 81.96 against the US dollar in early trade on Wednesday tracking the weakness of the American currency in the overseas market. In addition, the Forex traders said significant foreign fund inflows and easing crude oil prices supported the local unit. Moreover, the domestic unit opened at 82.06 against the dollar and rose to 81.96, registering a gain of 10 paise over its previous close.

Money Laundering Laws Applies To Crypto Trading: GoI

In a setback to Indian bitcoin traders, India’s money laundering laws will now apply to trade in cryptocurrencies, said the federal government. In a notification dated March 7, the Government of India said, "The exchange between virtual digital assets and fiat currencies, the exchange between one or more forms of virtual digital assets and the transfer of digital assets will be covered under money laundering laws."

Traders Association Request Year-Long Transition Phase To Abide With Ban On Single-Use Plastics

Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) on July 3 requested Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav a one-year grace period to abide by the ban on single-use plastics that went into force on July 1. It offered suggestions in order to safeguard those working in the industry. An abrupt prohibition might hamper multiple economic operations in several sectors, according to the leaders, and a phased implementation method is required.

Hyderabad's Numaish 2022 To Resume In Feb End As COVID Cases Decline

Hyderabad's Annual fair "Numaish" will reopen from February. Started in January, the All India Industrial Exhibition was shut down due to COVID-19 third wave. However, as the cases are declining, the fair is expected to resume for the usual 40-45 days, which would see traders with various products from across India. As per sources, the organisers will resume the fair from February 20-25. However, government nod is awaited.

US markets will not sell Indian mangoes, for the second year in a row, owing to the government's inability to roll out a solution for the export problem this year. Moreover, before exporting mangoes, a US phytosanitary inspector has to monitor pre-clearance activities which was not arranged due to the pandemic.
