Rail Car Derails On World Heritage Kalka-Shimla Route; All Passengers Unharmed

A rail car derailed on the World Heritage Kalka-Shimla route at about 11:00 a.m., resulting in the cancellation of two trains' rail services on August 28. A train car traveling from Kalka to Shimla derailed at Shimla between the Tara Devi and Shoghi railway sections. The rail vehicle had eight people, all of whom were declared safe. The cause of the train car disaster has yet to be determined.

Female Cop Pushed Off Moving Train In Katihar: Bihar

In Bihar's Katihar district, woman police constable Arti Kumari who was resisting a theft bid, was thrown off a moving train, on June 15. The incident occurred in the Samastipura-Katihar passenger train which was abour to reach the Katihar junction. Reportedly, four to five miscreants tried to allegedly snatch her mobile and purses and when she resisted, they pushed her off the train.

IRCTC, First Indian Firm To Provide Tourist Train Between 2 Countries, India & Nepal

Tourist trains operated by Indian Railways under the Bharat Gaurav Scheme will depart from New Delhi on June 21. It will operate on Ramayana Circuit, which is part of the "Swadesh Darshan" plan. The trip would cost roughly Rs 65,000 per person, according to Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation. By linking two nations India and Nepal, with a tourist train, IRCTC becomes the first agency to achieve this milestone.

Indian Railways Cancelled 6,995 Trains For Maintenance Work; 1,934 For Coal Transportation

Railway Protection Force Saves 150 Girls, Women From Human Trafficking

During the Railway Protection Force's pan-India Operation "Mahila Suraksha," which took place between May 3 and 31, 150 girls and women were saved from becoming victims of human trafficking. A total of 7000 people were detained for illegally traveling in women's coaches. RPF members risked their lives to rescue ten ladies who had slipped while boarding/deboarding the moving train and were in danger of being run over by the train.

'Bandhan Express' Train Services Between India & Bangladesh Restarts After Two-Years

The passenger train operations between India and Bangladesh restarted on May 29 after a two-year break due to the pandemic, with the flagging off of the Bandhan Express from Kolkata station on its route to Khulna in Bangladesh. The Bandhan Express will travel twice a week between Kolkata and Khulna. On May 29, the Maitree Express will also commence operations between Kolkata and Dhaka.

Vande Bharat Express Flags Off To Boost ''Make In India'' Initiative

The commencement of the Vande Bharat Express has led to a solid boost for Indian Railways in Saudi publication, enhancing the "make in India" initiative. In addition, India’s first-ever semi high-speed inter-city EMU was launched from the New Delhi railway station that covered a maximum distance with a speed of 160 km/hr. Notably, the train has a total seating capacity of 1,128 in 16 air-conditioned coaches.

Indian Railways' Record Breaking Freight Loading Hits 1418 MT In FY 2021-22

In the Financial Year (FY) 2021-22, the Indian Railways recorded the highest ever freight loading, which is 15% more than FY 2020-21. About 1418.1 MT of freight was loading in 2021-22, compared to 1233.24 MT in 2020-21. Moreover, from September 2020 to March 2022, Indian Railways recorded highest monthly freights for 19 consecutive months. Also, the anti-collision system was commissioned by the Indian Railways during FY 2021-22.
