Transgender Welfare Board To Soon Be Constituted At J&K

A transgender welfare board will soon be constituted in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The body will aim at protecting the rights and interests of the transgender community. An official stated that the board will consists of 13 members, and will be headed by Chief Secretary. Notably, as per the 2011 census, the total transgender population stands at 4,137.

UP To Hold 1st Census For Transgenders, Proposes Rs 200 Cr For Welfare

The Social Welfare Ministry of Uttar Pradesh has proposed the first-ever census for people suffering from gender dysphoria in the state. A budget of over Rs 200 crores has been proposed by the ministry for the welfare of people who identify themselves as transgenders. This would cover education, among other facilities. Last year, CM Adityanath had set up a Transgender Welfare Board.

BMC Vaccinates Over 100 Transgenders At LGBT Vaccination Center: Mumbai

Over 100 transgenders got vaccinated at the newly opened LGBT Vaccination Center, on August 25. The center was opened by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and was inaugurated by state Health Minister Rajesh Tope. The center is opened to the LGBT community who was facing problems. It is opened at St Joseph School at Vikhroli West. The BMC officials said that individuals without any identity card can reach this vaccination center.

Karnataka Provides 1% Reservation To Transgender Community

In a historic move, Karnataka becomes the first state in the country to provide 1% reservation to transgenders in general as well as reserve category of all government services. As per the amended Karnataka Civil Service Rule, 1977, everyone must be hired on the grounds of "fairness". The rule also possesses a section named the "others" option in the gender column.
