UP To Hold 1st Census For Transgenders, Proposes Rs 200 Cr For Welfare

The Social Welfare Ministry of Uttar Pradesh has proposed the first-ever census for people suffering from gender dysphoria in the state. A budget of over Rs 200 crores has been proposed by the ministry for the welfare of people who identify themselves as transgenders. This would cover education, among other facilities. Last year, CM Adityanath had set up a Transgender Welfare Board.

No Data On Vaccinated Transgender People: Govt In Lok Sabha

The Ministry of Social Justice on August 3 informed the Lok Sabha that the center, whatsoever, does not have any data of how many of the transgender community above 45 years of age have been vaccinated. The ministry further stated that it has given orders to all states and UTs to ensure the vaccination centers are friendly to all members of the community. Also to show no discrimination towards anyone.

Kerala's first trans candidate withdraws after receiving death threats

The first trans-woman candidate Anannyah Kumari Alex from Kerala has decided to end her election campaign due to continued death threats from her party leaders of the Democratic Social Justice Party (DSJP) which nominated her. According to her, she was used by the party leaders and when she opposed them, they threatened to kill her. Alex was nominated from the Vengarra constituency in the Mallapuram district.
