Reduce Medicine GST, Make Indigenous Vaccines Available In India, Advises Parliamentary Panel
A parliamentary panel proposed lowering the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on pharmaceuticals and making indigenous vaccinations available for the treatment of cancer patients in India on June 28. Officers from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare were there to address the crucial problem of accessible cancer treatment in India. According to the Ministry of Health, only six of India's 22 AIIMS had cancer treatment facilities.

US Patient Becomes 1st Woman To Be Cured Of HIV Via Stem-Cell Treatment
A patient from USA became the first woman ever to have been cured of HIV, after undergoing an umbilical blood transplant. "This is now the third report of a cure in this setting, and the first in a woman living with HIV,'' stated a member of the International AIDS Society. Notably, the therapy also led to remission from blood cancer or leukemia, which she developed due to HIV.

Over 1 Lakh People Hospitalized With Covid-19 In US: Data
According to a latest data from the US Department of Health and Human Services, more than one lakh people have been hospitalized with Covid-19, for the first time in nearly four months. The record of hospitalizations reached a high of more than 142,000 about a year ago, on January 14, 2021, and last topped 100,000 on September 11. The states are also reporting surges in the number of children hospitalized.

16.29 Billion Doses Of Antibiotics Sold In India, Says Report 2020
According to a study published in the journal PLOS Medicine, a total of 16.29 billion doses of antibiotics has been sold in India in 2020. However, the sales of azithromycin rose to 5.9% in 2020 from 4.5% in 2019. In India, adult dose usage increased from 72.6% in 2018 to 76.8% in 2020. The research suggests that almost everybody who was diagnosed with COVID-19 received an antibiotic.
