Significant Decline In Triple Talaq Cases, Naqvi Slams AIMIM Chief Owaisi

In response to AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s tweet, Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that Narendra Modi's 2019 law against instant "Triple Talaq" has reduced the cases of atrocities and social malpractice against the Muslim women in India. "The government is celebrating Muslim Women's Rights Day today. Modi is pretending to sympathize with Muslim women," Owaisi tweeted in Hindi.

Triple Talaq Atiya Sarbri Petitioner Wins Alimony Battle

One of the six Triple Talaq petitioners Atiya Sabri from Saharanpur of Uttar Pradesh has won an alimony of Rs 21,000 per month to raise her two daughters after five years. Earlier, Sabri had sent a petition to the Supreme Court to abolish the 1,400-year-old practice in August 2017. Notably, she advocated the ban as it did not give women the same liberty of instant separation as men.
