Arnav Goswami Accused Under 'TRP scam' Case; FIR Registered 9-Months Ago
In a very high-profile 'TRP scam' case, Mumbai Police has named Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami on June 22. Arnab has been named among the four others from ARG Outlier Media that owns Republic TV, the development has come after 9-months since the FIR registered in the case. In October 2020, the police had named Republic TV and two Marathi channels for allegedly manipulating TRP ratings to get more advertisements.

ED Finds TRPgate-Waze Link, Says Ex-Mumbai Cop Took Rs 30L From BARC
Giving a new turn to the Ambani bomb scare case, the Enforcement Directorate has found a link between the TRP scam and ex-Mumbai cop Sachin Waze. Reportedly, the suspended police officer took Rs 30 lakh bribe from the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) to stop troubling the council's employees. The BARC officials have accepted that they paid Waze by routing the money in the name of a fictitious company.

TRP Scam: Police Reveals Republic Chief Arnab Bribed Ex-BARC CEO
The Mumbai Police said that Republic TV's Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami had bribed “lakhs of rupees” to the ex-CEO of BARC Partho Dasgupta to increase the TRP of his channel. Reportedly, this was the first time Arnab's name has been surfaced officially in the scam. Police informed that Dasgupta had bought expensive goodies with the bribed amount. They added that the transactions were mostly through cash and once with US Dollars.

'Have Faith in High Courts', SC to Arnab on TRP Scam Case
The Supreme Court has asked Arnab Goswami's counsel to appeal in the Bombay high court first in relation to the TRP scam case. A bench lead by Justice DY Chandrachud said that they cannot "entertain" such petitions which have not been through the High Courts and advised Arnab's counsel to have faith in the country's high courts. Reportedly, Arnab's lawyer has agreed to withdraw the case and move it in the Bombay High Court.
