Draft Bill For Population Control Act Proposed By UP Govt
The Uttar Pradesh government has proposed a draft bill for the Population Control Act that debars violators of the two-child policy from government schemes and offers incentives to couples with a single child. The bill includes limiting ration card units to four and barring the violators from contesting elections and applying for government jobs. Besides, the draft bill touched upon the provision in polygamy and polyandry.

Assam To Mandate Two-Child Policy; Eligibility Criteria For Govt Jobs
Assam to gradually impose a two-child policy that makes them eligible for government jobs, in addition to the amendment made in 2018 to the Assam Panchayat Act, 1994. The already existing two-child policy allows couples with two children, with minimum educational qualifications and functional sanitary toilets eligible to take part in rural polls. However, tea tribes, Scheduled Tribes, and Scheduled Castes are be exempted from the norm.
