While speaking at a media conclave, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on October 9 said that we're working in full swing to sign free trade agreements (FTAs) with the UAE and Australia. Reportedly, the government is negotiating to conclude the agreement with the UAE by March 2022 and with Australia by the end of 2022. Besides, Goyal said the negotiation is also going on with the UK.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and his family are seeking shelter in UAE after fleeing Kabul as the Taliban takes over Afghanistan. President Ghani earlier stated that he left Afghanistan to "avoid further bloodshed". "The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation can confirm that the UAE has welcomed President Ashraf Ghani and his family into the country on humanitarian grounds," UAE said in a statement.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has finally on August 17 confirmed that the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 will start on October 17 and will end on November 14. United Arab Emirates has granted the ''Dubai Golden Visa'' to Indian Tennis player Sania Mirza, allowing her and her husband Shoaib Malik to reside for 10 years in UAE. Notably, Sania is the third Indian personality to receive the visa, following Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan and Sanjay Dutt. Abu Dhabi's SEHA app removed the "visitor" option from the vaccination section, despite assuring otherwise last week. People with tourist and visit visas could previously seek free vaccination through this option. Vaccination was previously restricted to only UAE citizens and residency visa holders.
