Dawood Ibrahim's close aid and an accused in the 1993 Mumbai blast has been held in UAE. After 29 years of search, on February 5, Abu Bakar has been arrested, following which India started his extradition process. Notably, Bakar was residing in UAE and Pakistan and escaped arrest in the past. He was responsible for 12 series of bomb blasts in Mumbai then Bombay, killing 257 people.

Indian Embassy To Bring Mortal Remains Of 2 Indians: Abu Dhabi Tanker Blast
India is having a word with the UAE government, to bring mortals of two Indians who died in a tanker blast mishap, Abu Dhabi. On January 18, the Indian Embassy based in Abu Dhabi is in touch with the families of the victims, informed the Indian Embassy via Twitter. Reportedly, two Indian nationals were among three killed and six injured in explosions, confirmed Sunjay Sudhir, Indian Ambassador in UAE.

UAE Imposes Travel Ban On Unvaccinated Citizens From Jan 10
The United Aram Emirates (UAE) imposed travel ban on unvaccinated people. The UAE government, on January 1, tweeted, "Ban on Travel on UAE Citizens unvaccinated with #Covid-19Vaccine, starting Jan 10, 2022, with a requirement to obtain the booster dose for the fully vaccinated". However, medically unstable and exempted people will not be included in the aforementioned order.

PM Modi's UAE Visit Scheduled On Jan 6, Now Postponed
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been postponed, said official government sources. PM Modi was scheduled to visit the UAE on January 6, 2022, to meet political leaders in the country. However, the business trip has been postponed, expectedly due to rising Omicron concerns. New dates for the visit is yet to be known.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is the most popular destination for Indians. On December 22, the Ministry of External Affairs Minister V. Muralidharan, released a data, which reveals 3,14,495 people, which is 50%, visited the UAE on tourist visas in first quarter of 2021. A major reason for the travelers visiting the UAE, amid the pandemic is due to the bubble agreement made between India and the UAE.

India Will Achieve $400 Billion Export Target In 2021-2022: Piyush Goyal
Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister for Commerce and Industrt, on December 18, assured that in 2021-2022, India will achieve USD 400 billion export target. Goyal further said, "The UAE will become a gateway for Indian trade to the Middle East and Africa and we may set up a huge mart to tap the market". Meanwhile, Talks on India-UAE Free Trade Agreement, with an investment of USD 100 billion in India, are underway, said Goyal.

UAE Govt To Set Up 4 Food Parks In India
UAE's Minister of Foreign Trade Dr. Thani Ahmed Al Zeyoudi said that his country will build a food park in Kerala, informed Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on December 16. ''The UAE government plans to open three food parks in India. We requested that one of them should be in Kerala,'' said CM Vijayan. Besides, the CM accepted the invitation of Zeyoudi to visit the Dubai Expo in February 2022.

Dubai Shopping Festival's 27th edition "kickstarted" on December 15. The annual retail fair is a treat to the people, who will witness performances, exhibitions, light shows at Burj Khalifa and many other events in the next 45 days. 20-Member Squad Announced For ACC U19 Asia Cup
The All India Junior Selection Committee announced the 20-member Under 19 squad for the upcoming ACC U19 Asia Cup, which is scheduled to begin from December 23 at UAE. In addition, for the Asia Cup, the Commission announced a squad of 25 members for a preparatory camp at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore from December 11th to 19th. UAE Changes Workweek To Mon-Fri From Sun-Thurs
The United Arab Emirates made a major change in its system by declaring its workweek from Monday to Friday, making it one of the few places in the middle east to follow Western hours. It'll come into effect from January 1, 2022. The country currently has a Sunday to Thursday working week. Besides, the government employees will work half-day on Friday, a traditional Muslim holy day in Islam.
