Kerala Blast: Suspect Dominic Surrendered Before Police, Arrested In UAPA

Dominic Martin, a suspect behind the blasts at Christian gathering in Kerala's Kalamassery on Sunday, who turned himself in yesterday, has been formally arrested by the Kerala police on murder charges. He was arrested under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Explosives Act, and murder charges. Martin's apprehension occurred one day following his confession to planting the explosives at the convention center.

Eleven PFI Workers Arrested & Sent To Judicial Custody By NIA Court

A special court of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested eleven PFI workers and sent them to judicial custody for 21 days, on September 30. The PFI workers were reportedly arrested under the UAPA Act from different locations last week. The arrested persons were earlier sentenced to 7-day judicial custody, which ended on September 30. Further details are awaited.

Apex Court Grants Bail To Journalist Siddique Kappan

The Supreme Court granted bail to journalist Siddique Kappan, on September 9. The journalist who was jailed for over two years under the UAPA by UP Police, will finally be out of jail after three days of trial. Furthermore, CJI UU Lalit led Apex Court bench granted bail on conditions like, Kappan cannot leave India and need to appear before local police, and stay away from political activities.

Delhi Court Dismisses Bail Plea Of JNU Student Umar Khalid: Delhi Riots

Accused in Delhi 2020 riots, Umar Khalid's bail has been dismissed by Delhi Court. As per ANI, the court bench on March 24, rejected the bail plea, based on the arguments and evidences produced by SPP Amit Prasad, against JNU Student Khalid. Furthermore, Khalid allegedly disobeyed the court's guidelines of bail and failed to file a counter reply. Notably, Khalid was arrested under UAPA in September, 2020.
