KPCC Vice President Pramod Madhwaraj Submits Resignation: Karnataka

Former MLA and minister Pramod Madhwaraj has submitted his resignation to the head of Congress party's Karnataka unit DK Shivakumar, on May 7. Madhwaraj stated that his grievances were not addressed, due to which, he will not be able to continue. Furthermore, he stated that the "Udupi district Congress party issue" which he's been raising, is unanswered since three years.

40 Muslim Students Abstain From Appearing For PU Exam In Karnataka: Hijab Row

In Karnataka's Udupi region, 40 Muslim girl students who were hurt by the Karnataka HC's decision to not allow wearing hijabs in institutions, abstained from appearing for the first pre-university examination. One Day Hijab Clad Woman Will Become PM: Asaduddin Owaisi

The Hijab-row of Karnataka intensified and became a political issue in India. The AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi lashed out and said, "One day Hijab clab woman will become the PM of India". He shared a 43-second video on Twitter and said, hijab clad women will become magistrate, businesswoman, doctors, district collectors and so on. Besides AIMIM, Congress is also supporting the Hijab row, pending with the Karnataka HC.

Section 144 Imposed In Areas Around All High Schools In Udupi

The administration imposed Section 144 of CrPC in areas around all high schools in Udupi from February 14 till 19. As per reports, All sorts of gatherings including protests and rallies are banned, also, Inciting slogans and speeches are strictly barred. The order is applied within a 200-metre radius of high schools. Notably, the decision was taken by the state government in view of the hijab-saffron shawl controversy.

Govt PU College Allows Students In Hijab With Conditions: Karnataka Hijab Row

Karnataka Hijab row matter at PU College in Udupi, intensified. Notably, after the protests, the PU authority allowed students in Hijab, but asked them to sit in a seperate classroom. Despite the attempts of making students understand the recently issued government order, which restrict wearing anything but school uniform, the students insisted on wearing hijab. The matter is pending with the Karnataka HC.

Muslim Student Files Writ Petition Over Hijab Row: Karnataka

A Muslim student of pre-university government college of Udupi, filed a writ petition with the Karnataka High Court, against Hijab denial decision. In her petition, the student said, they have denied entry in classroom since a week over Hijab row. She further added, asking to not wear hijab is a violation to Fundamental Rights. Meanwhile, the NHRC issued a notice to the Karnataka Government, seeking for an answer.
