UGC Announces CA, CS, ICWA Qualifications Equivalent To PG Degrees

The UGC on March 15 announced that Charted Accountant (CA), Company Secretary (CS), and Cost and Works Accountant (ICWA) qualifiers will be considered equivalent to post-graduate degree holders. UGC Vice-Chairman Bhushan Patwardhan Quits Office

Serving for over two and half years, the UGC vice-chairman Bhushan Patwardhan resigned on February 6. Reportedly, Patwardhan stepped down eight months ahead of his term citing personal reasons. Besides, he wanted to continue his research on Ayurveda. Bhushan was instrumental in framing the National Education Policy and headed a task force created under Ayush Ministry. Allahabad University Finds Its First Ever Woman VC In Prof Sangita Srivastava

Prof. Sangita Srivastava became the first-ever woman to hold the position of a regular vice chancellor (VC) at the Allahabad University (AU). Set to join the new post on December 7, Prof Srivastava has resigned from the current charge of the VC of Prof Rajendra Singh University. She joined the AU as a lecturer in 1989 and continued there before she was made the VC of Prof Rajendra Singh University in June 2018.

Fees Raised Up To Rs 2.75 Lakhs at the Tamil Nadu Deemed Medical Universities

Tamil Nadu's deemed universities have increased the annual tuition fee up to Rs 2.75 lakh for the MBBS Courses. Few colleges are charging a sum of Rs 24 lakhs, instead 22 lakhs annually. Reportedly, a sum of Rs 13.75 lakhs will be added to the entire MBBS course fee excluding caution deposits, hostel and other miscellaneous charges. No requests were made by the UGC to limit the fee, the colleges officials mentioned.
