British High Commissioner to India Alex Ellis said that India will surpass United Kingdom to become the third largest economy in the world by the end of this decade. He then stated that both the nations must work together. He then said that the UK leaving European Union opens a lot of opportunities for the UK to work with India. He said, a Free Trade Agreement will be completed by Diwali.

Following the India - Pakistan cricket match during the T20 World Cup on August 28, communal tensions flared up in Leicester in the UK, between members of the Indian-origin Hindu community. In regard to this, on September 19, the  High Commission of India in London condemned the violence perpetrated against the Indian Community in Leicester and sought immediate action against those involved in these attacks.

In UK’s Nottingham, over 50 teenagers stormed into a McDonald’s outlet, and looted everything possible. The incident occurred on August 21, at around 9 pm in Clumber street. Reportedly, the teens were aged between 14 and 16 years. Around 20 of them also abused and threatened the staff. No arrests have been made so far, and the police are investigating the matter.

UK PM Boris Johnson arrived in India on a two-day visit, starting on April 21. His visit is scheduled with a series of events, starting from visiting Ahmedabad, Gujarat. He will meet businessmen from Gujarat and enhance, UK commercial ties in India. Furthermore, Boris will also attend a ceremonial event at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Later, in April , UK PM will meet PM Narendra Modi and discuss India-UK bilateral ties.
