Bharatiya Janata Party leader Uma Bharti, through Twitter, requested Uttar Pardesh CM Yogi Adityanath to allow politicians and media persons to meet the Hathras victim's family. In her nine-thread tweet, she mentioned that the police cremated the victim in a hurry. She added that she was not aware of any rule "under which a family can't meet anybody because of a Special Investigation Team probe."

BJP national vice president Uma Bharti on September 27 informed that she has tested positive for COVID-19. Reportedly, she has been experiencing a mild fever for the past three days, following which she got herself tested. She has quarantined herself for now at Vande Mataram Kunj that lies between Haridwar and Rishikesh. She will again get tested after four days depending upon her health.
