Baloch Human Rights Council Requests UN Intervention Over Human Rights Violation In Pakistan
Speaking at the Human Rights Council, Balochistan human rights group requested for UN intervention over human rights violations in Pakistan. The speaker said that the Balochs are being “dehumanised” in Pakistan, and that they are deprived of education, health and other social amenities. He further stated that the aforementioned human rights violations are resulting in “extreme poverty” among the Balochs.

UN Condemns Mahsa Amini’s Death, Demands Accountability
United Nations experts have strongly condemned the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini. Mahsa Amini was allegedly killed in police custody in Iran for wearing an “improper hijab” and failing to comply with Iran’s strict rules on women’s dress. UN also said that the officials need to be held accountable for the death of Amini. “She is another victim of Iran’s sustained repression and systematic discrimination against women,” said experts.

Ukraine Sees Minor Victory! Recaptures Over 20 Settlements In Last 24 Hours
Ukraine has claimed to have recaptured over 20 settlements in the last 24 hours. Ukrainian troops have strategically gained control over 20 settlements which were captured by Russian troops. According to Ukraine, the Russian troops just “abandoned their positions and fled”. Ukraine has seen success in south and east including the cities of Izyum, Kupiansk and Balakliya in the weekend.

Volker Turk Becomes New UN High Commissioner For Human Rights
Volker Turk of Austria has been appointed as the new UN High Commissioner for Human Rights by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres. The appointment has also been approved by the General Assembly. “Turk has devoted his long and distinguished career to advancing universal human rights,” said UN Chief in a statement. Turk ensured that a UN system-wide coordination will be followed.

Congo Woman Kidnapped, Raped, Forced To Cook & Eat Human Flesh: Women's Rights Group To UN
A Congolese women's rights group told the United Nations Security Council that a Congolese woman was kidnapped by militants twice, raped, and forced to cook and eat human flesh. A huge surge in violence has been reported since late May in Congo, due to heavy fighting between government and rebels groups.
