Rahul Gandhi Addresses Rally In Hoshiarpur, Slams BJP: Punjab Assembly Elections
Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi, addressed a rally in Hoshiarpur, ahead of Punjab Assembly elections. During the rally, Gandhi criticized the Modi Government, saying the 2016 Demonization was a major reason for unemployment in Indian states. He said, the decision affected small, large, poor, middle class and other population of India. He said, the BJP Government promised Rs 15 lakh to youths, but never fulfilled.

India's Unemployment Rate Falls To 6.57%, Lowest Since March 2021: CMIE
According to CMIE, India's unemployment rate witnessed a decline to 6.57 % in January, the lowest since March 2021. The reports were based on survey on 35 million people, looking for work in December 2021. The unemployment rate in urban India stood at 8.16 % in January while, in rural areas, it was the lowest at 5.84 %. Notably, Telangana and Haryana reported the lowest and highest unemployment rate respectively.

New Zealand's Unemployment Rate Drops To 3.4%

Unemployment Rate In India Rises From 6.95% to 8.32%, CMIE Report
The data collected by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) revealed that India's unemployment rate has increased, around 1.5 million people have lost their job in August. According to the CMIE report, the unemployment rate has gone from 6.95% to 8.32%. K.R. Shyam Sundar, a labour economist said, "The labour market struggle will continue... a decent jobs recovery... manage to stop the third wave of the pandemic."

Urban Unemployment Jumps Up To 12%; Highest In 10 Months
A recent survey by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) has indicated that urban unemployment has increased up to 12%. Reportedly, urban unemployment rate clocked 11.72% as of May 9 while, for the week ending April 25, it was 9.55%. CMIE cited state-wise lockdowns for this increase, which is highest in the past 10 months. Moreover, rural unemployment has also surged from 6.37% to 7.29% during the same period.

TNSDC To Provide Free courses For Youths; Collaborates with Coursera
The Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC) has collaborated with Coursera, an e-learning platform to train 50,000 unemployed youth during the Coronavirus pandemic. The learners can enroll themselves for the courses till October 31, and will have free access until the year-end. TNSDC will provide 4,000 courses for the youth across the state to help them gain knowledge on data science, cloud computing, AI, blockchain and lot more.

Covid-19: CMIE Data Says, 5 Lakh Salaried Indians Lost Jobs in July due to the Pandemic
According to a report from the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), five million people lost their jobs in July. The Covid-19 Pandemic has caused a major setback in the country's economy. CMIE stated that "17.7 million salaried jobs were lost in April 2020. An additional 0.1 million jobs were lost in May. Then, 3.9 million jobs were gained in June. But, 5 million jobs were lost in July".
