UNSC Security Council To Vote On Resolution Condemning Russia On Feb 25
Amid the Russia-Ukraine crisis, UN Security Council is expected to vote on a resolution condemning Russia in the strongest terms for attacking Ukraine. The proposal will be voted by Moscow under the Russian presidency at 3 pm. "We will wait to see the shape that this resolution takes," said Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardha Shringla. Earlier Russian military attacked Ukraine which was condemned by the UK, US, Canada, and European countries.

COVID-19 Pandemic Can End In 2022: WHO Chief Tedros
The Director-General of WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that the COVID-19 pandemic can end in 2022 if the International community takes all comprehensive measures. During the opening of the 150th session of the WHO Executive Board on January 24, Tedros said, "The WHO continues to work nationally, regionally, and globally". He added that we should learn lessons from the pandemic and develop solutions for future emergencies.

MEA Appoints Dr Anupam Ray As Ambassador Of India To UN Conference
Dr Anupam Ray has been appointed as India's ambassador to the UN Conference on Disarmament, on December 29. He will also be the permanent representative of India for UN Conferences. The Taliban government on December 3 issued a special decree stating that women should not be considered as property but free human being in Afghanistan. Reportedly, the Taliban leader Haibatullah Akhundzada said women cannot be ''used for exchange in a deal or enmity''. As per the decree, women's consent for marriage has also been made necessary. COP27 Climate Summit To Be Held In Egypt In 2022
The Ministry of Environment of Finland on November 13 announced that the next United Nations Climate Conference, COP27 will be organised in Egypt in 2022. The COP26 was held in Glasgow from October 31 to November 12. 45M People Are On The Brink Of Starvation, Says UN Food Agency
The United Nations food agency, the World Food Programme (WEP), on November 8 said the number of people who are heading toward the brink of starvation has risen to 45 million across 43 countries in the world. ''We've got conflict, climate change, and COVID-19 driving up the numbers of the acutely hungry,'' said David Beasley, WEP Executive Director. Reportedly, $7 billion are needed to avert the global famine.
