Rajasthan Lifts Weekend Curfew As Active Covid-19 Cases Slump
The government of Rajasthan has lifted the weekend curfew from July 11 owing to a decline in Covid-19 cases. Theaters, training centers, tourists’ movement, marriage ceremonies, indoor and outdoor games are now open to the public. Meanwhile, theatres will be open with 50% capacity. Zero cases were reported in the last 24 hours in 16 of the state's 33 districts, as per reports.

Delhi Unlock 6.0: Sports Complexes Reopen, Multiplexes Stay Shut
Delhi government has permitted the reopening of stadiums and sports complexes in its sixth phase of unlocking. However, the spectator's entry is not yet granted but the government has passed an order stating the sports facilities can function normally. Earlier, sports grounds and complexes were opened only for the training of national and international competitors. Besides, cinema halls, multiplexes, and swimming pools will remain closed.

Delhi Based Gyms To Re-Open From Next Week: Chirag Sethi
Concerned about the debts and “big distress” for the owners, the Delhi Gym Association has urged the government in a letter to consider reopening gyms. Chirag Sethi, the vice president of the association mentioned, “We met the Chief Minister today and received a very positive response. He has promised us that gyms will be allowed to open from next week.” Gyms were the first organisation to get closed owing to the pandemic.

Delhi Unlocks Further, Bars & Restaurants Allowed With 50% Capacity
Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on June 20, issued an order, to ease the lockdown curbs further. According to DDMA, Bars and Restaurants are allowed to operate with 50% seating capacity. Moreover, public parks, gardens, golf clubs, and outdoor yoga activities will be allowed from June 21. However, cinema halls, gyms, spas, schools, colleges, swimming pools, banquet halls shall remain close for at least another week.

Karnataka CM Announces To Unlock Several Districts From June 21
After a meeting chaired by Karnataka CM B S Yediyurappa, the government has decided to gradually re-open 16 districts out of 30 in the state from June 21. The 16 districts are those where the positivity rate is below five percent. Besides, Clubs, lodges, and restaurants are allowed to function till 5 pm with 50% of their capacity. However, the weekend and night curfew will still persist in the whole state.

Jharkhand: Bars Resume Operations After Securing 50% Waiver In License Fee
Bars in Jharkhand reopened on November 3 after the state government assured to waive the annual license fee by 50%. Even though the bars were allowed to reopen from November 1 itself, they observed a shut down on November 1 and 2 as a part of protest against the high license fee. The Jharkhand government charges Rs 9 Lakh as an annual license fee from the bars.

Kerala’s Sabrimala Temple Reopens After 7 Months Under Strict Guidelines
The Sabrimala temple in Kerala reopened on October 17, after a nearly 7-month gap for a five-day pooja. The state government released a list of strict protocols that allows only 250 devotees to visit per day with prior online registration. A COVID-19 negative report before 48 hours of visiting the shrine is mandatory along with wearing a mask at all times during the visit.

Colleges Under Gauhati University To Reopen From November 1
Classes for the students of the first, third, and fifth semesters of all undergraduate courses for colleges affiliated to Gauhati University will resume from November 1. Post graduate third semester classes will also begin on the same date and first semester will begin from November 18. However, hostels are unlikely to reopen any time soon. The state government will release the safety protocols between October 15 to 20.

Experts Fear of Second COVID-19 Peak During Winter; WHO Disagrees
Indian College of Physicians’ Dean Dr Shanshank Joshi has stated that the nation may witness a second peak of COVID-19 in winter. Vaccine researcher Dr. Gagandeep Kang has also opined that the Unlock may increase the number of cases in the coming months but "masks will drive it down.” However, researches from WHO said that there is no strong seasonality for COVID-19 and coronavirus doesn’t follow the pattern of dominating in any season.

Kolkata: Doctors Fear For Increase In COVID-19 Cases After Durga Pooja
Ahead of the Durga Pooja, the street markets of Kolkata are witnessing an increase in the number of customers, creating an atmosphere of fear. Dr Punyabrata Gun, convenor of West Bengal Doctors' Forum, said that the doctors fear that "the number of cases will rise after Pooja." The pooja will begin on October 22 and the West Bengal government has already eased many restrictions for celebrations.
