7 Unvaccinated India U-19 Players Denied Entry Into Caribbean

Seven Indian unvaccinated members of the ICC U19 World Cup were detained at the Caribbean airport for more than 24 hours. In addition, the unvaccinated players were asked to go back to India. It happened after the team's long flight from Dubai to Port-of-Spain. ''It was a harrowing experience for the boys,'' stated the team manager. Notably, the Indian and Trinidad government had to interfere to resolve the issue.

Omicron Variant Less Severe Even For Unvaccinated: South African Study

A South African study claimed that even unvaccinated people infected by the Omicron variant will not require hospital care. The study, led by the NICD, compared 11,600 patients from the first three COVID-19 waves with 5,100 patients from the new Omicron wave and found that there will be no severe illness. "Approximately 25% reduced risk of severe, hospitalization or death compared to Delta," the study said.

UAE Imposes Travel Ban On Unvaccinated Citizens From Jan 10

The United Aram Emirates (UAE) imposed travel ban on unvaccinated people. The UAE government, on January 1, tweeted, "Ban on Travel on UAE Citizens unvaccinated with #Covid-19Vaccine, starting Jan 10, 2022, with a requirement to obtain the booster dose for the fully vaccinated". However, medically unstable and exempted people will not be included in the aforementioned order.
