Ketanji Brown Jackson Becomes 1st Black Woman Judge In US Supreme Court

Ketanji Brown Jackson became the first Black woman to be sworn in as the 116th justice of the United States Supreme Court on June 30. This is the first time in US history that a black woman has been appointed to the country's highest court. President Joe Biden said selection of Judge Jackson represents a historic moment for US. "We have taken another step towards reflecting the diversity of the US Supreme Court," stated Biden.

Abortion Rights Activists Protest In Favor Of Constitutional Right To Abortion: New York

Hundreds of abortion rights advocates marched and rallied in New York on May 14 in favor of the constitutional right to abortion, and voiced their concern about what this may imply for women's reproductive choices. The Supreme Court seems to be leaning toward giving the states final say. If this happens, nearly half of the states, especially in the South and Midwest, are likely to instantly ban abortion.

Supreme Court Likely To Strike Down US Right to Abortion

United States Supreme Court is poised to strike down US "Right to Abortion". According to the 98-page leaked draft obtained by Politico, written by Justice Samuel Alito said, "Abortion presents a profound moral question". In Roe v. Wade, the nation's highest court held that access to abortion is a women's constitutional right until it's 22-24 weeks of gestation. The US in recent months has banned all abortions after six weeks.
