In Uttarakhand’s Dehradun, the State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) has rescued five persons who were stranded on an island in Sahaspur river. The rescue operation was initiated after SDRF received a call about the same. Reportedly, persons were stranded on the island after water levels of the river increased due to rainfall. The stranded persons were then brought back to shore using a raft.

In the latest development in Ankita Bhandari Murder case, an SIT based in Uttarakhand has started to probe the victim’s WhatsApp chats. Reportedly, it is clear from the chats that Ankita was telling her friend that the resort owner was pressuring her to provide “extra service” to the guests. The resort owner has been arrested, following the incident. The murder of receptionist Ankita has resulted in a nation-wide agitation.

BJP Expelled Leader Vinod Arya Amid Ankita Bhandari Murder Case: Uttarakhand
The Uttarakhand unit of BJP expelled leader Vinod Arya after his son Pulkit Arya was accused in a murder case of 19-year-old Ankita Bhandari. Notably, on September 24, Laxman Jhula Police arrested Pulkit Arya, the owner of an illegally constructed resort, in connection with the murder of Ankita Bhandari. Uttarakhand On Alert Due To Rise In Dengue Cases
To prevent the spread of dengue, Uttarakhand government directed all chief medical officers to take necessary steps. Uttarakhand’s chief in-charge secretary of health R Rajesh Kumar said that the CMO will be held responsible if the dengue cases increase. Reportedly, over 300 cases have been reported in the state, so far. In addition, all students are asked to attend schools wearing full-sleeve shirts.

CM Dhami Announced Portal To Facilitate Suggestions On Uniform Civil Code: Uttarakhand
Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhanush has announced a portal to facilitate suggestions on Uniform Civil Code (UCC). The chairman and members of the expert committee met CM Dhami in the secretariat and held a discussion on the matter. An approval was given in the first cabinet meeting, constituting an expert committee. Furthermore, Dhami lauded the committee’s work so far, and said that it has worked “expeditiously”.

1 Died, 5 Stranded While On Uttarakhand-Chitkul Trek, Rescue Operation Underway
The Uttarakhand Disaster Management authority confirmed a trekker's death, and five were stranded, including three porters in the Chitkul region, on September 4. The six people went for a trek from Khimloga Pass, when they went missing, following which the disaster management ordered a rescue operation. Notably, three porters, two trekkers are stuck and are likely to be rescued by the concerned official soon.

China Condemns Indo-US Military Drill Near LAC, Calls It Violation Of Bilateral Agreement
India is expected to carry out joint military exercises with US troops in October. The drill is expected to be carried out in Uttarakhand’s Auli, which is situated around 100 kms from the LAC. China stated that the drill will be a direct violation of India-China bilateral agreement, which prohibits carrying out military drills near LAC. “We oppose any third party to meddle in the China-India border issue,” said China.

Earthquake Of 5.2 Magnitude Jolts North-Northeast Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh
An earthquake of 5.2 magnitude on the richter scale struck Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow in the early hours on August 20. The quake occurred at around 1:12 am, and had a depth of 82 km. On August 19, a mild earthquake of 3.6 magnitude on the richter scale hit Uttarakhand, which left tremors across the region. Meanwhile, another quake of 3.1 magnitude on the richter scale, hit J&K’s Hanley village.

Uttarakhand Police Arrest 20 Persons In UKSSSC Paper Leak Case
The Uttarakhand police have arrested as many as 20 people in the case relating to Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) paper leak. Reportedly, the latest arrest in the case was made on August 18. According to the police, the Special Task Force (STF) which was constituted, managed to break the link between mastermind Hakam and the copying mafia of Uttar Pradesh.

Additional Private Secratary Gaurav Chauhan Arrested In UKSSSC Paper Leak Case: Uttarakhand
Probing into the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission paper leak case, Superintendent of Police of Special Task Force Ajay Singh, informed about the latest arrest of Gaurav Chauhan, Additional Private Secratary working in public works and forest department of the state. Around 15 arrests have been made so far, in a case pertaining to a question paper leak. The exam was conducted on December 4 and 5 for 854 posts.
