Due to a mudslide in Uttarkashi's forest in Naugaon, give women were buried under the debris, on June 23. Soon after the incident, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami sent out a "government helicopter" for the rescue. While one woman succumbed to her injuries on the way, four others are being treated at AIIMS, Rishikesh. CM Dhami further stated that he wishes for their speedy recovery.

The National Center for Seismology on February 5, said a 3.6 magnitude earthquake jolted the city of Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district at 3:15 AM. The epicenter of the quake is reported to be 58 km northwest of Uttarkashi and 10 kilometers from the depth of the earth.
