Uttrakhand's Records Highest Women MLA This Year

Uttrakhand had a rise in female-majority in the state legislative assembly with up to eight women in the 70 members assembly. All the parties had their respective number of female candidates including BJP with eight women, Congress with seven, AAP had six and three from Samajwadi Party. Also, this year female voter turnout also was 4.06% higher than men in the recently concluded Uttarakhand Assembly election, which the BJP won.

Uttarakhand CM Resigns, Will Serve As Caretaker CM Until New Govt Swear In

BJP won the 2022 Uttarakhand elections by 47 seats and ducked anti-incumbency to retain power. To this extent, current CM Pushkar Singh Dhami with cabinet submitted his resignation to governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh at the Raj Bhawan on March 11. The CM stated, "Since we've received a new mandate & this tenure is complete, we gave resignation to Governor'". He will continue as caretaker CM until new government sworn-in.

Uttarakhand Elections 2022 Results, BJP To Win With Maximum seats, Says Joshi

Uttarakhand's elections were believed to be in favour of BJP with Narendra Modi's and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami's effort on the welfare of the people, as said by Union Minister and BJP's election in-charge Prahlad Joshi on March 10. BJP now adds up to 47 seats leading in Uttrakhand Assembly Elections as per the Election Commission data by 12 PM. The final announcement of the election results are awaited.

BJP MP Manoj Tiwari Tests COVID Positive With Mild Symptoms

Delhi BJP leader Manoj Tiwari tested positive for COVID-19. On January 4, he took to Twitter and informed, "Due to mild fever and cold, I could not even go for the Uttarakhand-Rudrapur campaign yesterday. I have tested positive in the test today". He had isolated himself on January 2, after feeling unwell. Notably, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has also tested positive for COVID-19.

80 Out Of 160 Samples Taken Come Out Positive For Dengue: Haridwar

According to the samples taken from the Gadharona Village of Roorkee, it has been found that the village has been a major hotspot for dengue in the Haridwar District. Residents claimed that around 200 cases have been detected. Health officials said that they have intensified the drive against victor-borne diseases, but however villagers are alleging that the administration has turned a deaf ear against their complaint made on October 4.

Late Monsoon Floods Kill More Than 150 In India & Nepal

Thousands are stranded as heavy monsoon rains have destroyed homes, crops, and other infrastructure in India as well as Nepal. Uttrakhand region has been badly hit with approximately 48 deaths, and 42 in Kerala, whereas, in the neighbouring country Nepal, an average of 77 people have lost their lives, as of October 21. Reportedly, the government is trying hard to find people and save those who are stranded.

Uttarakhand Govt Suspends Char Dham Yatra Amid COVID Threat

Amid looming COVID threat, the Uttarakhand government has cancelled the Char Dham Yatra scheduled to begin on May 14, 2021. CM Tirath Singh Rawat said that only priests of the four pilgrimage sites in Badrinath, Kedarnath, Yamunotri, and Gangotri will be allowed to perform religious rituals. While portals of Badrinath Dham and Kedarnath temples will soon open for pilgrims, the temple will open at Brahmamuhurt on May 18.
