India Reports 1,829 New COVID Cases, 33 Deaths In Last 24 Hours: COVID Update

India has reported 1,829 fresh cases of COVID-19 and 33 deaths in the last 24 hours, on May 18. Of the 33 fatalities, 31 were from Kerala and two were from Delhi. India's active caseload stands at 15,647. The daily positive rate in India stands at 0.42% and weekly positivity rate at 0.57%. Also, in the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive, over 191.65 crore cumulative doses have been administered so far.

Colombian Schools May No Longer Require The Usage Of Face Masks

Colombian schools that satisfy certain conditions will be exempted from wearing face masks in confined places beginning on May 16, according to the Ministry of Health, which announced the change on May 13. Only schools with 70 percent of students and teachers fully vaccinated will be able to lift the mandate. Schools must also have 40 percent of their staff have received a booster dose.

India Reports 2,841 New COVID-19 Cases, Active Cases Below 19k

India registered 2,841 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, confirmed Union Health Ministry on May 13. Furthermore, the nation registered 9 fatalities, reporting a decline in COVID-19 cases.  In addition, the MoHFW said, the active cases comprise 0.05% of the total infections, while the national recovery rate is at 98.74%. India COVID-19 Cases Dip To 19,067, Positivity Rate Is At 0.04%

In India, the COVID-19 cases increased again on May 12 with 2,827 new infections. The MoHFW also confirmed 24 fatalities, with a dip in the active cases to 19,067.  As per the ministry, the active cases comprise 0.04%, whereas the recovery rate is 98.74%. In addition, the number of people who have recuperated from the disease is 4,25,70,165, with 1.22%.  In addition, 190.83 crore doses have been administered.

India Registers 2,288 New COVID Cases, Active Cases Dip To 19,637

India registered 2,288 new COVID-19 cases, which was reduced compared to the cases registered on May 10. Furthermore, the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare confirmed 3,044 recovered cases and 10 death cases in India. With the drop in the COVID-19 cases, the active cases stand at 19,637 with a 0.47% daily positivity rate. Besides, the MoHFW reported that approximately 190.50 crore vaccine doses of COVID-19 have been administered.

Delhi Logs 1,354 New COVID-19 Cases In 24 Hrs

After reporting over 1,400 COVID-19 cases on May 4, Delhi reported a dip in the case with 1,354 fresh cases the next day.  As per the Delhi Health Ministry, the national capital also registered 1,486 recoveries and one death due to the virus. Although cases decreased, the daily positivity rate for COVID-19 increased to 7.64%. In addition, the City administered 17,81,980 vaccine doses to the people till date.

'No One Can Be Forced To Get Vaccinated': Supreme Court

The Supreme Court has held that vaccine mandates are not proportionate, in its judgement on the plea filed by former NTAGI member Dr Jacob Puliyel. The petitioner had stressed on the fact that natural immunity from past infection is superior to the vaccine-induced immunity, that serious adverse events due to Covid vaccines are being reported all around the world, and that vaccine mandates violate one's right to self-determination.

Govt Unlikely To Reduce Gap Between Second Dose & Booster Dose: COVID-19

Amid speculations regarding the Government of India planning to reduce the gap between the second dose and the booster dose, government sources have confirmed that there are currently no such plans. SII CEO Adar Poonawalla had earlier urged the government to cut down the gap between doses. Some experts have, however, suggested that the longer the gap is between the doses, the stronger the immunity develops in the vaccine recipient.

India COVID-19 Cases Update: Reports 2,451 Cases With 54 Fatalities

The Union Health Ministry confirmed 2,451 new COVID-19 cases in India, taking the overall tally to 4,30,52,42, on April 22.  With this, India now has active cases at 14,241, and death cases at 5,22,116 with 54 fresh fatalities. In addition, the Union Health Ministry data also confirmed COVID-19 recovery rate at 98.75%, positivity rate at 0.55%, and fatality rate at 1.21%.
