Over 95 Lakh Vehicles Older Than 15 Years To Be Replaced, Says Gadkari

Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said, "More than nine lakh vehicles, owned by central and state governments, transport corporations and public sector undertakings, that are older than 15 years will go off the road from April 1 and new vehicles will replace them." On January 30, Gadkari addressed a meeting and confirmed the development, ensuring the safety of people by promoting electric vehicles.

Tata Motors Announces Price Hike For Commercial Vehicles, In Effect From July 1

Tata Motors has announced a price hike in its commercial vehicle range, starting from July 1, 2022. According to sources, the increase in price will be in the range of 1.5-2.5%, depending upon model and size of vehicle. The decision to hike prices came amid extensive measures to absorb a significant portion of the increased input costs in manufacturing. Furthermore, Tata Motors witnessed a  steep rise in overall input costs.

Registration Renewal Fees For 15-Year-Old Vehicles Increase By 8 Times

As per the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Vehicle owners will have to shell out eight times more fees for the renewal of more than 15-year-old cars, from April 1, 2022. However, the new rules won't be applicable for vehicles registered in Delhi. Notably, renewing the 15-year-old car will cost Rs 5,000 while for two-wheelers, it is Rs 300 and imported cars would be for Rs 40,000.

Srinagar-Jammu National Highway Reopens For Stranded Vehicles

A one-way traffic on Srinagar-Jammu highway was resumed for stranded vehicles from Jammu towards Srinagar on January 24, after remaining closed for two days, due to landslide and shooting stones. The highway remained shut on January 23 after inclement weather, and took time in restoration as a loaded truck was stuck in mudslide. Following clearance, traffic was resumed for stranded vehicles after the hectic efforts of Traffic Police.

10% Of Newly Registered Vehicles To Be EVs By 2025: Maharashtra

To combat climate change, the Maharashtra government has drafted a revised policy for electric vehicles (EV) in the state. Under the policy, 10% of the newly registered will be modified to EVs by 2025 in major cities. Moreover, 1500 charging stations will be positioned in Mumbai. Notably,15% of MSRTC buses will also be converted into EVs. Additionally, all EVs will be spared from road tax and registration fees.

Bangalore Infant Pleas HC To Ban Vehicular Traffic In Cubbon Park

In a rare incident, a case has been filed on behalf of a five-month-old baby in the Karnataka High Court to ban vehicular traffic inside Bangalore’s Cubbon Park. The petition from baby, Kiran Medhi Kumar, had cited a study that mentioned there was a notable decline in pollution when vehicles were prohibited in the park. Accepting the petition, the court has directed the state government and other concerned authorities to respond.
