US Film 'Nomadland' Wins Award for Best Film at Venice Film Festival

US movie 'Nomadland' won the Global Lion Award for best film at the Venice film festival on September 12. Directed by US-based Chinese filmmaker Chloe Zhao, the film is about a community of van dwellers traversing the American west. The movie stars Frances McDormand, who played the role of a widow turning a van into her transportable home. COVID-19 safety protocols were strictly followed by the festival with limited attendance.

Gujarati Film to Be Screened at Venice Film Festival

'Anita', an 18-minute Gujarati short film will be screened at Venice Film Festival 2020. Directed by Sushma Khadepaun, the film talks about gender inequality and domestic violence. The movie will be the first ever Gujarati film to be screened at Venice Film Festival. Khadepaun will be the second female director after Mira Nair to get her film screened at the Venice Film Festival.
