Leave For Your Own Safety, Warns Militant Organisation To Meiteis In Mizo

After the recent Manipur violence incident, the State Government has planned to airlift Meiteis from Mizoram, one of the two communities engaged in violence with the Kukis, from Aizawl. This comes after an organisation of former militants in Mizoram asked all the Meiteis to leave their homes for their “own safety”. The organisation stated that there is “anger among Mizo youths” over the two women sexual assault case.

Manipur Violence: CM Biren Singh To Meet State Governor At 3 PM

Amid the rumours of resignation, Manipur CM is scheduled to meet the State Governor on June 30, 3:00 P.M. Notably, the planned meeting came amid the ongoing violence between ethnic groups, resulting in a deadly protest-like situation in Manipur.  Manipur CM N Biren Singh will meet Governor Anusuiya Uikey and is expected to hand over his resignation to the Governor. However, an official announcement on the matter is awaited.

Manipur Violence: Central Govt Calls For All Party Meeting

The Central Government is conducting an all-party meeting, convened by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on June 24. The meeting was organized to discuss the prevailing situation in Manipur. Nearly 120 people lost their lives and over 3,000 have been injured ever since the ethnic violence broke out in the state on May 3. Furthermore, during the meeting, Shah and party leaders discussed the situation and measures for peace.

41 Women Prisoners Killed In Rivalry Gang: Honduras Prison

In Central America's Honduras Prison, 41 women inmates lost their lives. On June 21, a massive riot broke out between two rival gangs of women in the prison. Stabbing, attack and cells were set on fire in the prison. Yuri Mora, the spokesperson for Honduras’ national police investigation agency confirmed 41 deaths and several injured, who are being treated at government hospitals. A case is registered for further investigation.

Report Reveals Alarming Rates of Abuse of Older Women in India

Shockingly, a study found that around 16% of older women had experienced abuse, with physical violence being the most common form. In addition, disrespect and psychological abuse were reported by 46% and 40% of abused women, respectively. The survey also highlighted the fear that prevents many older women to file a police complaint. The major reason listed is due to lack of awareness and available resources, and financial security.

In Indonesia, approximately 129 people were killed after a stampede occurred at a football match, on October 1. At the football match stadium, to control the situation and violence by supporters of two rival local teams, the police used tear gas. Notably, supporters of the local Javanese clubs Arema and Persebaya Surabaya clashed after the former was defeated 3-2 at a match in Malang Regency, in Indonesia's East Java region.
