US To Spare In-person Interviews For Visa Applicants
The US has removed the requirement of the in-person interview from December 31 for many visa applicants from India, said a senior American diplomat to the Indian community leaders. To be eligible for this waiver, the applicants must've already been issued any category of US visa. The types of visas under the exemption are students, workers (H-1, H-2, H-3 and individual L-visa) and culture and extraordinary visas.

Indian Passport Holder Can Travel 60 Countries Visa-Free
In a relief to Indian travelers, at least 60 countries will now welcome Indian passports for visa-free or visa on arrival travel. In 2022, India's passport power increased to 83rd position from the previous 90th position, allowing travel to 60 countries instead of previous 58 countries. Novak Djokovic Denied Visa In Melbourne; May Not Play Australian Open
The world's number one tennis player, Novak Djokovic, was denied entry in Australia and his request for a visa cancelled at the Melbourne airport, on January 6. Owing to this, Djokovic may not play the Australian Open. However, it is expected that Djokovic could apply for a new visa or pursue a legal appeal. POTUS Biden In No Plans Of Extending H-1B Visa Ban
After Former US President Donald Trump's notification of the ban of the HB-1 visa lapsed on March 31, President Joe Biden did not issue any further notification on the ban. As per reports in 'The Wall Street Journal', the White House will not renew the ban on visas. Meanwhile, Republican Senator Josh Hawley has urged the President to extend the ban in the country.

Amazon, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank Join Hands To Build New UPI-like Network
Amazon will be collaborating with ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and Visa to set up a national payments network in India. UAE Puts Ban On Fresh Visas To 12 Countries' Citizens Including Pakistanis
To prevent second wave of the COVID-19, the UAE will not be issuing 'fresh visas' to visitors from 12 countries including Pakistan. The temporary ban was announced on November 18. US Cancels Visas of Chinese Students, Researchers Citing "National Security"
The United States on September 10 revealed that it has cancelled visas of over 1,000 Chinese students and researchers, citing "national security" as the reason.
