Rise In Temperature Brings Respite From Cold Waves: Kashmir
The minimum temperature improved in the Kashmir, which brings some respite from cold wave conditions throughout the valley, as the temperature rose by several notches on January 28 night. The officials have said that Srinagar recorded a low of -1°C, up from -3.6°C, while the Gulmarg recorded -7.5°C from -10.4°C. Notably, Kashmir is going through the harshest period of winter, known as 'Chilai Kalan', which will end in two days.

Regions Of Kashmir Valley Receive Fresh Snowfall, Temperature Falls
Gulmarg & Pahalgam in Kashmir received fresh snowfall, while the minimum temperature dropped slightly in most of its parts. In Srinagar, the minimum temperature settled at a low of 2.2°C, while Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 2.2°C. The officials in Meteorological Department have said that weather will remain cloudy in the Jammu & Kashmir, with possibility of rain or snow during January 22-23.

IMD Issues Yellow Alert In Telangana; Predicts Hailstorms, Rains
'Yellow alert' has been issued for three days by Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on January 13, as hailstorm and heavy rain are likely to occur at isolated places in Telangana. The IMD also predicted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning at isolated places in a few districts of the state. The yellow alert is a watch-out notice for isolated heavy rains.

Yellow Alert Issued In China Amid Heavy Fog
China's National observatory on January 9, issued yellow alert due to heavy fog, as during the daytime, thick fog is expected to sweep several parts. National Meteorological Center said, "visibility in some areas will reduce to less than 50 meters, adding drivers should take safety measures." China has a color-coded warning system for severe weather, with red being the most serious, followed by orange, yellow & blue.

Delhi's AQI Improves To 'Satisfactory' Category Amid Heavy Rainfall
After Delhi rains, the Air Quality Index (AQI) fell under "satisfactory" category from "moderate", on January 9. With heavy rainfall and thunderstorm, the National Capital's AQI is 90, the lowest in the past few months. The IMD and Regional Weather Forecasting Centre predicted light to moderated rainfall in isolated regions of Delhi like New Delhi, Lodi Road, Yamunanagar, Karnal and other regions for the next two-three days.

Delhi-NCR & Adjoining Areas Receive Heavy Rains For 2nd Consecutive Day
On the second consecutive day, Delhi-NCR witnessed heavy rains in the morning on January 9. After the continuous rain for two days, the air quality in the city improved from 'moderate' to 'satisfactory' with the Air Quality Index standing at 90, while waterlogging was witnessed in parts of the city. With rains lashing several parts of Delhi and the temperature dipping, homeless people were seen taking refuge in night shelters.
